{"id":21454,"date":"2022-09-26T12:35:34","date_gmt":"2022-09-26T10:35:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fsf.si\/2023\/?p=21454"},"modified":"2022-09-26T12:35:34","modified_gmt":"2022-09-26T10:35:34","slug":"the-2022-friend-of-slovenian-cinema-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fsf.si\/2023\/en\/the-2022-friend-of-slovenian-cinema-revealed\/","title":{"rendered":"The 2022 &#8216;Friend of Slovenian Cinema&#8217; revealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year, FSF Portoro\u017e started a new tradition celebrating \u2018friends of Slovenian cinema\u2019\u2014guests of honour who are in any way connected with Slovenian cinema or the audience in Slovenia. This year\u2019s friend of Slovenian cinema, <strong>Croatian director<\/strong> <strong>Rajko Grli\u0107<\/strong>, fits into both categories. In a career spanning fifty years, Grli\u0107 has worked with many Slovenian film professionals including the 2022 Badjura Award winner, actor Milena Zupan\u010di\u010d, screenwriter Branko \u0160\u00f6men, sound technician Marjan Megli\u010d, and the recently deceased actor Radko Poli\u010d \u2018Rac\u2019. Older audiences will remember Grli\u0107\u2019s hits such as <em>You Love Only Once<\/em> or <em>In the Jaws of Life<\/em>, while his recent years have been marked by collaboration with Slovenian producers, for instance on <em>Charuga<\/em>, <em>The Border Post<\/em>, and <em>The Constitution<\/em>. <em>Just Between Us<\/em> saw not just the involvement of the Slovenian producer Dunja Klemenc, but also the cast of the Slovenian actor Nina Ivani\u0161in.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rajko Grli\u0107 was born in 1947 in Zagreb, Croatia, where he studied philosophy before transferring one year later to the prestigious Prague-based film school FAMU, graduating in 1971. Together with fellow directors Goran Paskaljevi\u0107, Emir Kusturica, Goran Markovi\u0107 and Sr\u0111an Karanovi\u0107, he is considered a member of the so-called \u2018<strong>Prague school<\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And who would have thought that a five-year-old boy standing proudly in the middle of Logarska Valley with his parents, his grandpa\u2019s ice axe in his hand, ready to conquer the mountains around him, would grow up to receive an honorary doctorate from the School of Arts, University of Nova Gorica? Rajko Grli\u0107 will be our and your guest of honour throughout the festival. On Wednesday, 16 October 2022, don\u2019t miss the special screening of <em>Every Good Story Is a Love Story<\/em>, a film Grli\u0107 co-directed with the Slovenian filmmaker Matja\u017e Ivani\u0161in.
