On Tuesday, 8 October, at a press conference in Kinodvor, Ljubljana, the director of the Slovenian Film Centre, Nata\u0161a Bu\u010dar<\/strong>, the festival director, Bojan Labovi\u0107<\/strong>, the head of industry events, Veronika Zakonj\u0161ek<\/strong>, and the project manager, Tja\u0161a Smrekar<\/strong>, outlined the programme highlights and main features of the 27th FSF Portoro\u017e. Tickets for the festival are now on sale online<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At the conference, Bojan Labovi\u0107 emphasised that the festival was one of the few national film festivals in the region, adding that even among those, it stands out for \u201cfocusing not only on feature films but showing works of all modes and formats<\/em>\u201d. The festival line-up includes 72<\/strong> films<\/strong> that are in competition<\/strong> for Vesna awards, as well as 27 films<\/strong> that are part of the Panorama section. Nata\u0161a Bu\u010dar said, “the Official Competition of this year\u2019s FSF Portoro\u017e is reflective of the fact that public funding in Slovenia also goes to more communicative films, especially films for children and youth<\/em>\u201d. Bu\u010dar added: \u201cWe are pleased to see that Slovenia\u2019s Government has allocated significantly more funds for film in the next two years, allowing us to create better conditions for filmmaking, especially in terms of financial support per single project. In terms of the number of projects, we have in recent years reached the maximum production capacity currently available in Slovenia. At the same time, we haven\u2019t been able to raise film budgets substantially. The announced funding rise will allow us to do this.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

While showcasing the latest Slovenian cinema, the festival will also honour two of its legends: filmmakers Igor Pretnar and Matja\u017e Klop\u010di\u010d. A screening of Eisenstein\u2019s Student: Director Igor Pretnar in Moscow<\/em> (Slavko Hren, 2012) and a conversation with the director, Slavko Hren, will celebrate the centenary of Igor Pretnar\u2019s birth. Meanwhile, to commemorate the 90th birth anniversary of Matja\u017e Klop\u010di\u010d, a screening of his third fiction feature, Funeral Feast<\/em>, will be followed by a conversation with Majda \u0160irca, a connoisseur of Klop\u010di\u010d\u2019s work.<\/p>\n
