When I Get Out
COMPETITION • FEATURE • DOCUMENTARY
2025 • 106min • Colour • 5.1 • DCP • 1,85:1

Co-funded by the Slovenian Film Centre.
A film director and a psychiatrist go to Dob Prison, the central Slovenian prison. The director believes that there are stories locked up there, and the psychiatrist believes that his psychodrama method can open up a redemptive creative space and offer a glimpse into the convicts' future. A liberated territory in a closed area?
FEATURING:
VALON HOXAJ, NENAD MIROVIĆ, DENIS MIHALIČ, MATEJ GROZNIK, ANDREJ BAGARI, VIKTOR ERMIN HILIĆ, SANDRIJEL BREZAR, PRIMOŽ KOSI, LAN ŠABIĆ, VLADIMIR MILOŠEVIĆ, METOD PEVEC
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT:
I feel that the best starting point for a documentary film lies where I don’t understand something—yet feel irresistibly drawn to it. When I first entered the prison in Dob, I met some very extraordinary people. I experienced them as protagonists I would have liked to write myself—if only I knew how.
