For years, Romeo has been promoting independent and arthouse films, with a special emphasis on cinemas that are often overlooked in the broader European landscape. As a programmer and lecturer, she regularly participates in international festivals, expert meetings, and juries. With her work, she advocates for transcending national borders and for intercultural dialogue through cinema. She is one of the most prominent ambassadors of Slovenian cinema internationally, regularly featuring Slovenian films in the Trieste festival programme.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">In her contribution to the festival catalogue, Romeo wrote: <em>\u201cSlovenian cinema has always played a pivotal role in the Trieste Film Festival, offering a distinctive voice in the cinematic landscape of Central and Eastern Europe. As a festival that highlights regional talent and emerging filmmakers, Trieste provides Slovenian cinema with a unique platform to showcase its original narratives, often rooted in the country<\/em><\/span><em><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">s complex history and cultural identities. This connection fosters a deeper understanding between Slovenian filmmakers and international audiences, while also promoting cross-border collaborations. The festival<\/span><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">s focus on Slovenian cinema not only celebrates its artistic achievements but also strengthens the cultural ties between Italy and Slovenia, making Trieste a crucial hub for the exchange of ideas and creative expression in the region, and a special place for Slovenian film directors. My connection to Slovenian cinema is more than just professional: it\u2019s also a long story of friendships, research, and wonderful discoveries.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Slovenian films have found a cosy, welcoming home at the Trieste festival, where their unique narratives and different perspectives get the attention and love they deserve.
