Eisenstein’s Student is a documentary searching for the truth about little-known, largely unexplored chapters in the history of Slovenian cinema just after World War II. At the time, the architects of the country’s “new cultural policy” decided that future film workers would learn their craft, and probably also the ideology, mainly from filmmakers from Eastern European countries, especially the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia. Igor Pretnar was assigned to travel to Moscow.
