The Volta Cinema is set in the early 20th century, during the heyday of a "new art" – cinema, which was on the rise at the time and allowed a group of up-and-coming Trieste natives to make their mark in the cinema history of Slovenia, Italy, Ireland, and Romania together with the then-unknown writer James Joyce.

DANIJEL MALALAN, NIKLA PETRUŠKA PANIZON, ADRIANO GIRALDI, FRANKO KOROŠEC, ANDREA GERMANI, FRANCESCO GODINA, DANIEL GRIMSTONE, RACHEL ROISIN BROWNE, PAOLO VENIER
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT:
We all know James Joyce, but few know the Trieste entrepreneurs who opened the Cinema Volta with him in Dublin. This was a creative starting point for the documentary. I wanted to make a film that was very Triestine, a tribute to my hometown and to the people involved in this adventure.
